"Let's show them some good old fashioned American swagger." Roadside Attractions has debuted the latest official US trailer for Emperor, an indie historic drama starring Tommy Lee Jones and Matthew Fox as two WWII Generals who travel to Japan just as the war is ending to decide if Emperor Hirohito will be hanged as a war criminal. Along the way, Japanese student Aya (Eriko Hatsune) gets into the mix. This actually looks a lot bigger than an indie, with action scenes and potentially a few war flashbacks, as well as beautiful views of Japan after the war. I may try and see this sooner than later, I got a feeling I may enjoy it.
Watch the latest official US trailer for Peter Webber's Emperor, originally from Yahoo:
In the days immediately following the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II, on the staff of General Douglas MacArthur (Tommy Lee Jones), the de facto ruler of Japan as Supreme Commander of the occupying forces, a leading Japanese expert, General Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox) is charged with reaching a decision of historical importance: should Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal? Peter Webber (The Girl with the Pearl Earring) directs Emperor with a script from Vera Blasi and David Klass (Kiss the Girls). Roadside Attractions will be releasing Emperor in theaters starting March 8th 2013.
