Getting anxious to return to the USS Enterprise? Paramount has unveiled the first official teaser poster for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness sequel, which we've all been patiently waiting to see any footage or photos from. Don't go too crazy over this poster though, while it is a dark, gritty design, something about it may look a little familiar. Our friends at SlashFilm point out how similar it is to the silhouette designs for Battleship, The Raid and Battle: LA. Plus, who exactly is that in the futuristic trenchcoat? The Playlist says it's "Benedict Cumberbatch" as the villain overlooking a ruined London, but are we sure it's not Captain Kirk? Interesting, but nonetheless exciting, at least they're starting up real marketing for this sci-fi sequel.
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated everything the fleet stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a "one man weapon of mass destruction."
Star Trek Into Darkness is the sequel to the J.J. Abrams-directed reboot of Gene Roddenberry's original science fiction series. The screenplay this time was co-written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof. Most of the crew is back, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin & John Cho. Paramount is bringing Into Darkness to theaters May 17th next summer.

I love the symbolic Star Trek symbol within the ruins. Captivating.
