Since the last poster for Star Trek Into Darkness gave the spotlight to Benedict Cumberbatch as villain John Harrison, it's time for the heroes to take a stand again. A big banner for the sequel from director J.J. Abrams has just popped up, and it's a bit similar to the poster than debuted with the international trailer. It uses slightly different images for Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Cumberbatch, but just flips the shot of Zachary Quinto. The color scheme is the same, and while these images individually aren't bad, slapped together like this looks cheap. But at least there's a cool new TV spot to check out too.

A decade or so later and movie studios are finally catching on that their promotional materials online can do some interesting things with the right imagination and this mosaic is a nice example of exploiting a clever concept for the benefit of this:


Star Trek Into Darkness is the sequel to the J.J. Abrams-directed reboot of Gene Roddenberry's original science fiction series. The screenplay this time was co-written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof. Paramount is bringing Into Darkness to theaters May 17th this summer.
